Functional Behavior Assessment

  1. What is a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA)? An FBA is a collaboration from multiple view points and sources, such as home, school, and can be from the community settings that has had the opportunity to have observed the client in their environment. The Client has been reported to have certain behaviors, reacting, or directed to disrupt his/her environment. Sometimes these opinions from professional sources, such as at school, community centers, and recreation can differ that of the parent, guardian, or even caretakers of the client, which gives doubt.  This is when White Mountain Coaching comes to assist and collects a collaboration of data among all parties. In addition, this includes up to 10 hours of personal observation overseeing the active or unwanted behaviors. This FBA will be processed and a formal summary will be given to the behavioral health team, parent, guardian, or care taker.

FBA is a process that involves collecting data during school hours on a student's behavior to identify the function or purpose of the behavior. Teachers and staff collect data during instructional time, recess, and lunch. The observations data are given privately and truthfully, without any differentiated opinions. This data is then used to help develop effective behavior intervention plans to support the student's success.

FBA used in this process that involves collecting data from community  and recreation centers staff who have interacted with the client This data helps to identify the reasons behind the client's behavior as well as their strengths and weaknesses. By analyzing this data, staff can give develop strategies to address the behavior and help the client achieve his/her goals. FBA is an important tool for improving the quality of care for clients with behavioral challenges while in the community.

FBA data in the client's home environment is crucial. This is because the client's behavior may differ in other environments, and data from family members who live with the client can valuable insights. Home environments have unique factors that can impact behavior, such as parenting styles and social triggers, which makes collecting data in this setting even more important.

The data is important to ensure that all parties involved have filled out the necessary questionnaire before conducting the observation. After the FBA's information has been provided,  a schedule personal observation by White Mountain Coaching will gain additional data in the client's environment. Once the observation is complete, the data will be processed, summarized, and findings will be shared with the parent, guardian, and team.

Before ordering services, you will be directed first to the New Client Referral Form, which is needed to get to know what is needed and going on, then after can order your services, thanks. For this FBA, you will schedule in cart a 1 hour session, for paying purposely  but will be rescheduled again at a later date when all parties agree on their own date and time.
